Responsible business

We Are a Responsible Business

At Nordic Hotel Forum we are guided in our daily work by the principles of corporate social responsibility, including eco-friendly activities, cooperation with the community, and the well-being, health and safety of our staff. By responsibility we mean considerate, future-oriented decisions and analysing the impact of our activity.

Our principles of corporate responsibility:

  • We are an eco-friendly host, attempting to consciously diminish the potential negative effect of our activities on the environment
  • We value mutual respect, diversity and the principle of equal treatment among our staff, partners and guests
  • We notice and support those in need of help

We Are Eco-Friendly

The environmental goal of Nordic Hotel Forum’s daily activities is to consciously follow environmental norms and good practices, as well as prevent and reduce environmental pollution and related potential future threats to our human environment.

Our eco-friendly activities are confirmed by the eco-label Green Key we were awarded in 2010.
The building in which our hotel operates has become the first hotel in Estonia to be certified with the international sustainability and real estate quality mark, BREEAM In-Use.

By following eco-friendly principles, we promise to:

  • consume water and energy as economically as possible, and reduce waste in every possible way
  • shop consciously, by ordering paper towels, toilet and office paper made of eco-labelled or recycled paper
  • use nature-friendly cleansing agents, use chemicals in reasonable amounts
  • prefer local raw materials in the hotel restaurant
  • introduce eco-friendly principles to both the hotel staff and our guests, and encourage participation in the hotel’s environmental activities

How could you as a hotel guest take simple steps to help us save the environment?

  • by saving electrical and heating energy by taking the key card out of the card slot when you leave your room
  • by using water economically
  • by leaving your towels on the bathroom floor only if you want them to be changed, and so reduce the use of detergents
  • by placing packages next to the bin, paper and cardboard on the table and domestic waste in the bin in your hotel room
  • by leaving used batteries or other hazardous waste with the hotel receptionist
  • by walking or cycling in the city or country
  • by taking advantage of active holiday opportunities at the hotel relaxation centre, city parks or RMK hiking trails

We also support the Let’s Do It community activities day project that contributes to the development of the Estonian human environment and civil society, promotes the active attitudes and strengthens local communities.

We Celebrate Diversity

Our important values include relationships based on partnership, caring and creating a good feeling, and a correct and reliable working culture. Our people are extra special, unique and radiant, not just names on a name tag.

Recognizing the key importance of diversity in society, we volunteered to join the Estonian Diversity Charter in 2014 to affirm that we respect human diversity and value the principle of equal treatment among our staff, partners and clients.

By observing the principles of the Diversity Charter, we promise:

  • to value mutual respect, diversity and the principle of equal treatment within our organisation
  • to focus on considering diversity in company leadership
  • to develop HR policies that ensure the use of each employee’s potential and their equal treatment regardless of their gender, race or ethnic background, skin colour, age, disability, sexual orientation and religious or political views
  • to make efforts to reflect the diversity of our society within our staff
  • to defend our staff against discrimination

We Notice Those in Need Of Help

We believe that it is important to notice and support the people who need help around us.

We are happy to be involved in various charitable enterprises, to support Minu Unistuste Päev MTÜ (My Dream Day charity foundation)the SOS Children’s Village and other charities.

Sincerely,
Nordic Hotel Forum
